The Virtual Visa Mobility card is a restricted prepaid card that can only be spent on transportation and fuel. Attempted transactions at other merchants will be declined.
You can use your Virtual Visa Mobility card at gas stations, rideshare services (i.e.: Uber, Lyft), subways, buses, trains, toll systems, EV charging stations, and parking. It works in 212 countries and regions that accept prepaid cards.
Virtual Visa Mobility cards can be used online or in-person.
- To pay online, select "credit" as the payment method and enter the 16-digit card number, expiration date, and CVV like a normal credit card. Virtual Visa Mobility cards can be used with any billing address.
- Virtual cards typically are not accepted at brick-and-mortar stores unless they are first added to a digital wallet. To add the card to a digital wallet, see: Can I add my card to Apple Pay or Google Wallet?
- When paying in-store, select "credit" instead of "debit". Debit transactions may be declined. Then, tap your mobile device at the point of sale to pay with your digital wallet.
When buying fuel, pay inside the station. Purchases at the pump will be declined. Walk inside, pay the cashier, and select "credit" as the payment method.
Spending small balances
When using your Virtual Visa Mobility card, any transaction you make must be equal to or less than the remaining balance on the card. If you try to make a transaction greater than the remaining balance, the card will decline.
Most physical merchants allow split transactions, where you can pay for a single transaction with two or more payment methods. To make a split transaction:
- Add your card to a digital wallet like Apple Wallet or Google Pay. For instructions, see: Can I add my card to Apple Pay or Google Wallet?
- Ask the cashier if you can make a split transaction for the card's remaining balance. If you're not sure how much balance is left on your card, see: How do I check my card balance?
- Open the digital wallet app on your mobile device and tap it on the payment terminal to complete payment.

Why can't I spend my card at other merchants?
Certain reward senders are subject to rules and regulations regarding the types of payouts they can send to recipients. As a result, they may not be able to send unrestricted prepaid Visa cards.
Unlike transportation gift cards, which are only accepted at specific providers, the Virtual Visa Mobility card can be used at any transportation or fuel merchant that accepts prepaid cards. Reward senders may choose to send a Virtual Visa Mobility card instead of a traditional gift card to give you more flexibility.
