Tremendous taxes

Tremendous provides a suite of tax management features designed to improve compliance and reduce administrative burden.

Overview

What Tremendous provides

  • W‑9 collection at redemption for eligible U.S. recipients.
  • E-delivery consent collection.
  • Eligibility tracking by recipient email or an external user ID.
  • Ability to include off‑platform payouts so totals are accurate for the year.
  • Granular control for handling rewards of non-compliant recipients.
  • Ready-to-file 1099s and data exports for year-end.
  • Audit logging for key tax actions (collection toggles, reviews, edits, exports).

What Tremendous does not do

  • Tremendous does not issue or e‑file 1099s on your behalf.
  • Tremendous does not provide tax advice or assume responsibility for the accuracy of year-end filings. We strongly suggest you consult with a tax professional.
  • Tremendous tax features do not guarantee compliance with tax obligations. Tax compliance is your responsibility. We provide this feature for your convenience.
  • Tremendous cannot force recipients to complete W-9 forms. If your recipient is presented with a W-9 and they do not complete it, they will not be able to redeem their payout. However, you may still be responsible for issuing a 1099.
  • Tremendous tax features only collect W-9 data under specific conditions detailed in these articles. You may still have to collect W-9s from recipients who did not fill them in through our feature.
  • Tremendous tax features do not handle international recipients. Consult a tax professional about compliance in other countries.

Heads-up for 2026 and after

The Big Beautiful Bill modifies reporting thresholds for many 1099 forms (including NEC/MISC), raising the limit to $2,000 for payments made on or after January 1, 2026. This threshold will be indexed for inflation starting in 2027. Additionally, the 1099-K threshold returns to $20,000 and 200 transactions. Please consult your tax advisor to understand how these changes affect your obligations.
